What is an Apostille?

An apostille is an international certificate issued under the Hague Convention of 1961 that authenticates the origin of a public document. Once apostilled, your Irish document will be accepted as genuine in any of the 120+ countries that are parties to the Hague Convention.

In Ireland, the apostille is issued by the Department of Foreign Affairs. However, before the Department will issue an apostille, the document must first be notarised by an Irish Notary Public.

Hugh Phelan's Cork office handles the complete process โ€” notarising your document and submitting it to Dublin for apostille stamping.
